How to play

Objective

Free-play with the 3D soroban: slide beads, read place values and invent your own addition problems before the guided lab leads you through them.

The idea

This is the abacus in free-play mode. Push beads to the bar to count them, clear the board whenever you like, and see the place-value readout update instantly.

Try this

1Set any five-digit number by hand.
2Find the fastest way to show 5, 9 and 10.
3Create a number that needs every rod.
4Clear and rebuild the same number twice.

Watch for

Each rod is one place value.
One heaven bead equals five earth beads.
A rod over nine carries into the next place.
The readout reflects exactly what touches the bar.
